Acuity Adds Six Former ScaleFactor Team Members To Keep Up With Growth

By August 20, 2020 No Comments

Additions include the former head of tax, manager of customer success, lead technical accounting manager, accounting experience manager, senior analyst, and accounting specialist.

Acuity, an Atlanta-based online accounting service designed for small businesses, is excited to announce that they’ve hired six key former ScaleFactor team members to continue their growth plans. These team additions follow the announcement that ScaleFactor would cease operations in August 2020, and will help create a seamless transition for ScaleFactor customers looking to make Acuity their new accounting home.

Sergio Salinas is the new Director of Tax at Acuity.

Sergio Salinas is the new leader of the Acuity tax team. “Sergio built an amazing tax practice at ScaleFactor over the last five years. We are excited to add him to our leadership team for his extensive tax experience and, particularly, for his passion to modernize the way tax services are delivered to small businesses.”  says Kenji Kuramoto, CEO of Acuity.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to push the tax world forward,” says Salinas. “Acuity shares my vision to not allow the status quo, reactive tax service, to be acceptable. We made some good initial steps, but we have a long way to go. What I do know is that personal service is going to have to be a big part of the change.”

Janine Dizon is the new Accounting Manager at Acuity.

Janine Dizon is the new accounting manager at Acuity. Dizon will lead the bookkeeping and accounting resources Acuity is adding outside of the United States. “We started adding international employees in Greece and the Philippines in our own back office and sales group about two years ago. With that working so well internally, we made the decision to add bookkeeping, tax and accounting resources through our partner, The Outsourced Accountant at the beginning of 2020,” says Matthew May, VP of Sales and Marketing of Acuity. “We have been searching for a leader of that group and Janine ran a team of 18 supporting over 250 clients. We are so lucky to have Janine and some of her team join us.”

“I appreciate the core value of being Transparent at Acuity. Ever since my time in the Big Four, I have felt like clients appreciate knowing who is working with them and having direct access to their accounting team regardless of where they live. It is a global economy and we are all interdependent, as these last few months have really shown us. Our team is really looking forward to being able to really make an impact for Acuity clients.” Joining Dizon at Acuity will be Catherine Zafra and Jaime Bartolome.

Taylor McElheney is the new Director of Accounting and Trey Chavez is the new Director of Customer Success at Acuity.

Joining current Director David McLaughlin in the Accounting department is Taylor McElheney, now giving Acuity two Directors of Accounting. Trey Chavez also joins the ranks of directors at Acuity as the new Director of Customer Success. “Taylor and Trey bring a tremendous amount of knowledge about the customer experience from day one through the highs and lows of business along the way. We are excited to combine the lessons learned from ScaleFactor and Acuity to make our client’s lives easier,”  says Lisa Gilreath, VP of Operations of Acuity.

“Acuity has built an incredibly progressive environment, and their team is an amazingly natural fit for us.” says Chavez. “The ScaleFactor team was moving the profession forward, but we had lots of unfinished work to do. We have definitely learned from the mistakes we’ve made and now understand what we collectively need to do to help small businesses scale and grow smartly and quickly.”

“In the accounting industry, the juxtaposition of human expertise and technological efficiencies is a very complex equation. By leveraging highly-skilled accounting and financial experts, industry leading technology partners and world-class customer service, Acuity is creating the perfect formula for handling the nuanced nature of outsourced accounting. I could not be more excited to be joining the Acuity team where we will continue to challenge the status quo and work to further propel the accounting industry.” – Taylor McElheney

Acuity plans to help current ScaleFactor customers by honoring their current pricing.

Acuity plans to help current ScaleFactor customers by honoring their current pricing for 12 months to create a seamless transition for day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting operations. Additionally, at the request of several ScaleFactor clients, Acuity is performing comprehensive credential checks to help companies with peace of mind to know their bank accounts, credit cards, Gusto,, Veem, and Expensify accounts have been reviewed after the transition. Either with a free, informational session or a one-on-one call, Acuity is making themselves available to ScaleFactor customers to accelerate their onboarding process and make sure they don’t have a lapse in service.

“We shared a lot in common with the ScaleFactor’s goals to push the industry forward,” says Kuramoto. “But we’ve taken a different approach when it comes to the technology aspect. We sit on the advisory boards of the important technology companies in our field, and influence the process by advocating for our customers and pushing for better experiences. We then optimize the use of those technologies with great people, and I can tell you Sergio, Janine, Catherine, Jaime, Tyler, and Trey are all great people.  We are so excited to welcome them to the Acuity family.”
